This article provides instructions for onboarding NEW SmartThings or Aeotec hubs and connected devices into your DACK portal. For setting up a hub or new locks/devices in an existing account, please refer to this article.
Some tips for your hubs and devices:
Use names for your hubs and locks that can easily identify the property in which they belong.
Create a new SmartThings "Location" for each unique listing/property.
Creating A SmartThings Account
To onboard a hub and IoT to DACK, you will need a Samsung SmartThings account. To create an account go to https://account.smartthings.com/login and signup.
Creating A SmartThings API Token
Before connecting your hubs, you will need to create a DACK API token inside of your SmartThings account. You only need one API token for all of your hubs + and devices.
Visit your SmartThings account page and create a new token.
Provide a "Token Name" (e.g. "DACK Token", or "DACK") and authorize all of the checkboxes.
Select Generate Token. Copy your token to a notepad as this will be the only time you will be able to see/ access it.
You can now use this newly created token to onboard your SmartThings devices into DACK.
Onboarding a SmartThings Hub into DACK
Navigate to the IOT Devices screen on the Operator Dashboard and select Add IoT.
Select the brand of hub from the section marked "Hubs".
For the field labeled "SmartThings Access Token" please paste the SmartThings API token created for DACK.
For the field labeled "Device ID" please paste the device ID for the hub.
In DACK, select Verify Device ID to sync the provided details.
Select Next and your hub and connected devices will sync into your Dashboard.
Your hub and connected devices, including locks, will be viewable in the DACK Operator Dashboard on the IOT Devices screen. Select the hub and assign it to its respective unit. Repeat for each device connected to the hub.
In some cases where a device is not showing as connected/online in DACK, you will need to delete the device and onboard the device separately. Similarly for missing devices, if devices did not sync into DACK, you will need to onboard them separately.
